    [QUOTE=Doc;93977]I was quoted 2235 Euros + VAT = $3535.74 yesterday for 500mW.

    I wonder who gave you these numbers. I think I would remember if it was me yesterday...

    Doc have you seen 457nm?

    That seems to be the new frequency everyone's going for. Brighter than 445nm but still a deeper colour than 473nm.

    CNI are doing those in a wide range of powers.

    Imagine your nice very very expensive diode sitting there. You would be too bloody scared to vene touch the thing let alone connect it to something like voltage..

    The price difference was not that great at the time and I figured Arctos had way more experience than me so decided to buy rather than build.

    I wasn't thinking about assembling one myself, I too; would be too afraid of looking at it the wrong way / destroying it with coffee breath or something. I've played about with 405 diodes. Them things die if the wind changes direction.

    I'm not sure to be honest. Only people I've seen making them are CNI so perhaps you'd need to ask Dave or another CNI dealer for pricing. It is a pumped colour like 445 not diode so I guess its never going to be very cheap. That said, so is 435 and Laserworld are using 435 so they can't be mega expensive given Laserworld's target audience so maybe 457 isn't too bad. I'd be interested to know also.
