    Laser Warning LivePro Questions

Hello ppl i posted this thread in the pangolin forums but there is not so much activity there, guess they are really bussy working on something great

i havent playd around much with the program as the time is an issue right now before big hollidays here in sweden.

    Anyway here is the post.

    --------------------------------
    Hello

I wonder if there is some possibility to run the LivePro software without the FLashback3 Dac Card?

Reason i would like to do this is becouse i have quite a huge projector with the DAC installed in it. And i would like to go home and work on shows without having to carry the hole projector into my livingroom. Ofc i could make the card easy to take out from the projector but, here is another really important reason why i think this should be available.

Last week i got booked for a show one day before it was about to happen. ANd there was about 8hours of traveltime to the venue. A perfect time to sit in the Car and program the show untill arival to the venue (im not the driver ) but it couldent be done couse no 230Volt socket in a car.

Also my partner in crime who lives about 20Km away from me want to contribute by working out some shows/cues.

Could this be possible to work out some how?

    Best regards.

    /Rickard
    ------------------------------------------------

    Question 2

When i choose to make a beam in the beamchaser option i have noticed that the beam is not using the full capacity of my output power for my laser. (yes have set it on 100 and full power and clear green color.)
I have a Viasho1.7W and it should be showing 695mA on the powersupply display when running on max. and now it only shows about 390mA when using the beamchaser option. I understand that the display might be slow and not responding as fast from LivePro but i can clearly see that the power of the beam is not the full power. anyone know why this is?

    Question 3

Is there a way to do a single beam from the "Abstract creation option" not using the beamchaser option.? i have tried doing this by making the abstraction realy small although it never turns out to be a single beam. anyone?

    Question 4

I know LivePro is only for live, but i would like to do a show prerecorded withmusic for about 5-10minutes. is there a way to do this with either LivePro (have seen a recording option)? Or is there any other software in the FB3 package that can do this?

    Thanks for any help.

    /Rickard

All and All the LivePro is so much better than anything i have tried, and ive tried alot of softwares, they have made an really great software and even though i havent played around in it much i can really see the possibilitys and thousands of custom settings you can do.Im really happy i finally choose to go for the litle more expensive option, but as many say. You get what you pay for. Mamba is great Fiesta is also great etc etc. But they lack that extra 300Euro Extra options/customisations. that Pango is offering.

You're using a laptop? I Start LivePRO with the projector connected.. and then I disconnect the projector. Livepro complains about the 'change of configuration'.. but if you don't pay attention to that.. you can keep using livePRO. If you want to lay your computer away.. put it in hibernate.. don't switch it off!

The FB3 will never put out a 100% duty-cycle.. in both beam-mode as in normal play mode... altough 390 out of 695mA is a bit less. If you create multiple beams.. will the number go up?

An abstraction can be made up from connected lines.. or points. I haven't got livePRO in front of me right now, so can't tell exactly where.. but there's a place you can choose between them. You can also set the number of points.. theoratically you could set that to 1 I guess..

    Hi.

    I don't know about Q1, but for Q2:

I think that it is programmed that way that you actally can not use all the power in one beam. I belive that 100 means 100 points in the same place, not 100% of laser power. What you can do (what I did) is to place several 100 points-beams to the same place. After 5-6 you should have max. power in one beam.

    Q3:

I know that there is the way how to make rotating single beam. If you start with simple circle (that's default) and change aplitude for X and Y to zero, than you should get single beam. I was told once that there is the way how you can get 100% power into 1 beam from abstract generator, but I don't remember.

    Q4:

Yes, you can use recorder in LivePro and either record it using your hands fro pressing cue-buttons or use automated music-synchronized system. Than you can either play it back in player (same section as recorder) or transfer it into new cue.
But If you making really customised show for certain song it might be better to use ShowTime as you can work with it as with sequencer and therefore more accurately.

Q1: You can bus power the FB3, it draws about 300mA max IIRC when going full pelt.

This is what I was talking about.. 'beam mode' Point setting doesn't go further then 4..
Well.. does it serve your purpose?

I made it.. had to play around for a while but finally managed to get a dot.

if you click the "Beam Mode" u get a smaller dot and if you have it unchecked i guess the scanners write alitle bigger and brighter dot/beam.

Just do as i have done here and you can then move around the beam with "Amplitude" X&Y

    Ok. Here´s a new question.

if i go to "New Abstraction" and i keep the default multicolor tunnel/ring.

    Q.
How do i go about moving the intire ring to, for example the top Right corner and have it static there?
IN the default it is static in the center. Think i have tried most of the things i can find there but cant manage to pull this off.. Anyone?

    Thank you.

    Hi Rickard

I don't think you can do what you want from within the abstractions editor. However, there is an easy way to acheive the effect.

First, save your abstraction to a cue. Then take a look at the cue properties at the right hand side of the screen. Click on 'Image', the image properties will open, now click on the 'Scale/Pos' tab. This allows you to set exactly where you want the image to appear. Hint: just right click on the little circle in the grid and drag it to where you want the image to appear

That's it. Now when you click on the cue your image will project in the location that you selected

    I hope this helps.

    Cheers

    Jem
