Default Anyone looking for low RPM DC motors?

    PL folks....

I've located a Hankscraft clone DC motor, doing a little over 1 RPM at/around .5 VDC based on what I've tested. These do around 4 RPM at 1.5 VDC as well. They come with a plastic plate that seats on the shaft and would work well for lumia or diffraction grating effects. I have an opportunity to get a fair number of these, but will likely not be able to get more (these are new surplus). My cost with a box to ship these in, will be $12.00 each (probably a few bucks less if you want more than one). This is less than half of what a Hankscraft typically sells for.

This is a goodwill offer - I'm not making anything on these & shipping will be actual cost. If there is enough interest here, I'll buy some with payment expected on PayPal. If you're interested, please PM me ASAP with a zip code. I'm getting these as is/no warranty, but will be glad to test these prior to shipping anything out.

Shaft is ~1/8", motor body is 1.75" in diameter, 2.125" in length.

Anyone interested? I'm going to be cutting & grinding some glass for lumia wheels this coming week as well if anyone is in need of these.

Any chance you could find out what shipping costs to the UK are likely to be?

If it's half reasonable i'll take a couple.

I was looking at these on Ebay...

Are the ones you can get the same as this listing as it shows them as being ½ RPM?, if so yours are a brilliant deal, thanks for making them available

    Thanks

    jem,

the best thing would be to look out for a 1/8th rpm crouzet synchronous motor, mains powered but reliable slooooo speed
they sometimes appear on ebay and i think they may be made in scotland

    Hi:

Correct me if I am wrong. Did someone say they smashed one of these because it was too noisy?

These are used for Point-Of-Sale displays - as such, they are quiet unless you crank up the voltage past a couple of volts (as will the Hankscraft and other gearmotors at higher rpm).

I think it was Mikkojay that smashed the Hankscraft - but as I recall, there was a gear train, multiple effects driven, etc.
