Question Do all fog machines stink

I have a Chauvet 1050 fog machine. It is a 1000 watt one with a heater element that puts out 5000cfm of fog. It has a faint sweet burned odor to the fog. I don't like the smell.

Any suggestions for an odorless one? How about a hazer for under 500?

Any experience with the HZ100 from

    http://www.starlight.com/foghaze.html

for $299 ? Or other foggers that don't have an odor?

    Any info appreciated.

I have a few martin magnum 2000's & a Jem 24/7 Hazer, they all have the same smell. It's just your fog fluid. Just be careful what kind of fluid you put in your fogger, I know my martins tend to clog up if I run the cheap stuff.

hehe fair enough. i dont fink its the smoke machine its the fluid so making ur own is a good idea and trying to find some oudorless would also be ok.

i think there will always be a slight smell though cause your burning a fluid and it will just naturally smell a little.

    cheers oli

quick reply by the way hehe

Also, if it is a fog machine (not a hazer) the nozzle will heat up, so all dust that got onto it will burn. For this reason I let always my fog machine run a couple of hours before a show (if I get the chance).

Anyway, the smell is not that bad, I get always associations of a cool show.

I own 2 x HZ100 and this hazer does not smell, it uses also no heat, only compressed air.

It also leaves no residu en extreme long hang time, ideal for home use.

the only disadvantage is the low output. It's almost useless in large venues.

I also own a couple of moke machines, and I do sense a difference between them, the more expensive smoke machines got less smell.

PS one HZ100 hazer is for sale EUR100,- but it will make no sense to ship it to the US.

    Strange you should mention this

My Look Solutions Unique 2 Hazer never used to have any smell to the haze. I then bought a new carton of fluid and that has that slightly burnt sweet smell. To be honest I thought it had gone off, so I bought another carton and that smells exactly the same. I think they've probably changed the solutions slightly. In actual fact I was going to drop Look an email to ask them.

I can live with it but I think I preferred the old solution with no smell.

    Cheers
