    Default FB3 Sync Query

    Hi all,
I was hoping someone could give me some advice about the Pangolin FB3.

I run my shows using Pangolin LD2000 Showtime. I use 2 RGB projectors that are at the moment hooked up in tandem. For some of my shows I use a diffraction grating over one of the output apertures from one projector which is great as I can switch between the two projectors for either the straight output graphics from one or the diffraction output graphics from the second or both.

The only thing is that both outputs are the same graphic, obviously. What I want to find out is rather than purchase another QM2000 so I can run different graphics in tandem with the projector with the diffraction grating would it be possible to run a FB3 instead with say the abstracts recorded on the FB3 and the diffraction effects recorded in showtime and run directly from the QM2000, is it possible to Synch the FB3 to a show run from the QM2000. I hope this makes sense. What I am trying to create without the added expense of another QM2000 are 2 different graphics projected in Synch to 2 different projectors.

I hope someone can give me some advice.

    Thanks
    Simon

Thumbs up Here's one way to do it...

The FB3 supports DMX-in for control. And the QM-2000 supports DMX-out. So, if you load all your frames onto the memory card in the FB3, you should be able to select them by sending DMX commands to the FB3 from within Showtime. You'll need to read up on DMX frames and how to use them in Showtime though. This also means you'll need to re-edit all those shows, obviously.

Beyond DMX however, I don't know of any other way that you can control the FB3 from an LD-2000 system.

Supposedly "beyond" , when released, is supposed to rectify this problem.

Really? That would be very interesting! Too bad I won't be at ILDA this summer. (But you guys that are planning to attend are going to give us all a full report, right?)

That sure would help make my long-term "expansion" plans a bit cheaper...
