I think that's very true. You're only showing off the factories tuning level not the scanners performance potential.

Also, would have been nice to have seen some DT40's and ScanPro 40's in there as they seem to be two of the leading Chinese offerings.

    I agree, but define "untuned"....
They might all be perfectly tuned at an exotic speed @ an exotic angle.
So for a real comparison, all scanners would always have to be retuned at a common speed @ a common angle.
Manufacturing tuning is irrelevant to my opinion (as long as there is some tuning to start with)
Scanners are an OEM product and should always be tuned to the application.

One the other hand, if a scanner is clearly tuned like crap, that tells a lot of the factories quality control.

I agree with you Bart. I bought the raytrack35 and the quality is very good. If a company put more time in adjusting the scanners and the quality is better it says something about the company i think.
The raytracks are slightly more expensive but it has a scanfailure board so that evens it out i guess

    Hello

I agree, It's not a fair test without a tune. BTW, My LW50K scanners make a great test pattern after a good tune.
There was no time to change the mirrors and to tune the Laserworld 50k set.
Would an absolut beginner do that??

No tuning means that we did't spent 2 or more hours per scanner to tune him.
One Laserworld CS150 Projector was tuned, the other one not to show the difference.
The manufactor of the CS27K and CS40K says they are well tuned and marks the trimmer
for warrenty. The Raytrack 35 were well tuned from a freak long time before the test.
Perhaps my CT's look better at 60 or more degrees, how they are used at Beamshows.
They are adjusted for 35K ILDA. Another test will follow later this year with additionall
    scanners.

I think that's very true. You're only showing off the factories tuning level not the scanners performance potential.
Tuned or not tuned, you see the difference.
$100 scanners are not as good as $1000 scanners., even at the best tuning.

Well you've got a point there. For those particular scanners there was no option to tune!

    PS.
If the scanner is bad, never be able to tuned a good laser image.
    Like the CS-40K of waves,that is a serious problem,if can't eliminate
would be creat more heat, soon the galvo die

The Apollo 4 Driver are from HB-Laser. (Germany)
But long since not more in the programme.
Unfortunately was not adjusted of the Driver.
I would also have tested sometimes with pleasure Turbo Track 2b / 3.
