    Default ILDA suitable cable

    Hi all,

I want to make an ILDA cable. I presumably need multicore, judging by my FB3 I need 16 cores? Do I need twisted pairs or anything like that?

I think most people just use regular printer extension cables. At least that's what I do. They are DB25 male to female cables. That is exactly what you need. Your projector should have a DB25 male connector and the FB3 comes with a DB25 female connector.

But you are right, ideally it would be shielded, twisted pair multicore construction. A pair for each differential at least X,Y,R,G,B and if your projector uses them - I,U1, U2, U3, U4
Plus a few single unshielded conductors Interlock A and B, Shutter, Gnd..

not all cables work. i just bought 2x 10m db25 printer cables that didnt work. when i cut the cable open it was only a 9 pin cable. make sure the cable is fat and not thin.

    Cool

Amazon.com has 50 ft Parallel Extension Cables (M/F, all 25 pins wired straight through) for under $13.00 (plus shipping).

Yeah, I know it says serial. But read the description. All pins are connected.

    Adam -

What's the max cable length the QM2000.net can drive?
50 ft. is a lot of cable...

I bought my 50' ILDA cable from Fry's near Seattle right before a show in '07. (Lucky!)

I had attempted to solder one up from scratch (shielded SUPER cable and 25-pin connectors), but didn't have time. I've used it ever since.

It was also labeled "Serial extension cable"...

I still have the unfinished one. I figure I'll put it together one of these days when I feel like playing a game of "Labyrinth", but don't have one of those impossible wooden contraptions available.
