    Default source for laser parts

Maybe it is a good idea to share your source for salvaged laser parts.

For instance I got the following from a Agfa-gevaert DLab 2plus minilab:
    1 green dpss
    1 blue dpss
    1 red diode assembly
    2 aom (crystal technology)
    various lenses, polarizers, beamsplitters ...

    Hi,

this is indeed a good idea

unfortunately I have no access to a decent salvaging source, as I live in a place where there are no really big technological companies

I work in a photonics/science lab at the Université Libre de Bruxelles and I have access to some nice systems (VERDI 18, INNOVA 200, CHAMELEON + AVIA femtosecond system, and several IR sources, scanning michelson interferometers, and a nice little grating spectrometer 300nm to 2000nm)

the only things I have managed to scavenge so far are small power supplies, old electronic devices, radio vacuum tubes and the like...

@jeejeedr : what are the powers of those lasers do you guess?

    WOW! Good one!

    Thanx for sharing...

I have not yet found anything super useful from something like that. About as good as it gets is a line-generating mirror wheel from a barcode scanner or a laser printer head.

My dad can occasionally arrange a few old DVD burner sleds for me but that's all. Anyone knows if there are a lot of hospitals with old laser setups or is this rather a rare phenomenon?

I've always thought about asking, but never really tried

The main problem is storage, as if I managed to scavenge something like a laserscope-like device, it'd be a new dining table in my small flat

Is there any chance to find a "pocket" sized device in hospitals? I think you'd end up with what is actually around the pocket sized device ^^

After reading through this post; it has only just struck me that my niece is a sales rep for a medical lab equipment company. She travels all over Europe visiting hospitals, clinics and labs, selling the stuff, I never even thought to ask her about used equipment

That reminds me that my uncle is also a sales rep for medicines! I should ask it him too, but I think he only visits doctors.
A new coffeetable in the form of a laserscope would be nice in our home.
