Default DMX To Servo Board From Laser Show Parts!

    Hey PL'ers!
I won one of these nifty DMX to servo boards as a door prize at FLEM5 and finally got around to tinkering with it. Thanks Dave and Aijii for the great donations.

Anyway, i got the board all interfaced with a servo and DMX input as well as power. I want to interface this thing with my QM-2000 but I have no clue how. I tried fooling around with the DMX settings in LD-2000 but I can't make heads or tails out of how to configure it.

Here are pics of the board and my test setup....

If someone can give me some learnin on how to at least get the servo to actuate in LD-2000, that would be very helpful.

Also, What should I use this for? I was thinking i could mount a small piece of shower glass to it and have it actuate in front of my galvos for different lumia effects. That's my idea but I'm looking for others.

    Thanks!
    Adam

Well, for a start, it looks like you have the servo plugged in round the wrong way The signal is white on a Futaba.

Why have you removed the servo power input connector?

The QMX utility is a good way to get going with DMX, without the complexity of DMX frames and such

    Hey Dave!
HA! Yes, I did have the servo plugged in backwards didn't I.

As for the servo supply power. I didn't see a reason I couldn't power the board with 12V since it has a built in regulator. So, i just ran a bridge from The positive input to the servo power input.

I'll have to check out that "QMX", is that an LD-2000 utility?
    Thanks!

I set the board up with separate power connectors, so the servo power could be varied to slow the servo down. You might find a servo powered off 12v goes a bit fast, overshoots, etc.

QMX24 is a LD2000 utility that has been included in recent builds I believe

How about using the servo to move a mirror in and out of your projectors main beam to the scanners, to deflect it off to a lumia wheel, or dual diffraction gratings?
