Default Coherent Thermopile Head Pinouts Help..

    Hey guys/gals...
I'm looking for the pin out assignment for a Coherent
15 pin Male Sub 'D connector that is found on Coherent's Laser Power
    Meter (thermopile) heads...
I assume the pin assignment would be standard across their different
    heads..

    Any help would be appreciated...

    Default INFO Found... thanks

    Hey everyone...

Just to let you all know that I obtained the info I was looking for.
No need to respond to this query....

I put this question up in 3 different Laser Forums and only one gave me some usable data.

A member by the name of John_Lawson over at LaserPointerForums was able to supply me
    with info I needed...

    Thanks just the same...

Jerry, care to SHARE the information so it will be available for people in the future?

    Just a thought,

    Hey sugeek...
of course.... what do you think I am... selfish....

Well... what I was told through John.... that came from Coherent themselves... is that the
connector is not one of theirs and I will need open the connector and head to trace the lines...

The coherent heads also use an EPROM which identifies the head to the LPM unless it is a thermal head. I have attached a couple of pictures, sorry to sound rude earlier I have my own self interest. I don't know which model you are trying to figure out, but I also have a BNC to DB25 thermal adaptor but I think you are correct I would have to open it up and then trace the leads due to the EPROM.

No that head won't be used for a laser, I was planning on using it for a solar project I have coming down the road (still have to paint the back black).

Thanks for the photos... what kind of Solar project would that be...

Okay, that connector only has a db-15 guessing probably 2 thermistors in the head, I am not sure if that has an EPROM or not. I am guessing this connected to a MODEMASTER or something bench unit, I have seen similar before. It may be pulsed, off the top of my head 1mV per mW. Luckily you don't need to open the head just the connector and trace the leads from the eprom. If you want to get real fancy you could read the eprom and note the differences. If I can remember where I stashed my adaptor I will open it up and take a look but that is DB25 for my fieldmax .

As for the solar projects, I am looking to building a few parabolic dishes again, that head is watercooled so basically a really expensive heat exchanger (maybe a sterling engine). It will be nice to read values from the dish and track (time to buy and ardruino board). The rest of my solar projects will be delayed a bit until i can buy a spool of plastic optical fiber, a few yag rods, etc... Just plain old fun stuff, now that I am in the land of the sun I want to take advantage of FREE photons!

BTW, thanks for finding me a local surplus shop! :P
