    For as much as I would want to tackle that endeavor, you would spend much less if you could just find a used EasyLase- I spent like 300USD on mine and it has been lots of fun. (I have spent 300 on MUCH less)

    Hi Mike,

    Great continued work. I will check this out when I get a chance.

    Many years ago, Tim Walsh wrote a fireworks generator for our LD/Amiga system. It took into account things like wind direction and other factors. And a lot of the fireworks that are in our shows and included as animations were generated by Tim and his program. It's good to see a modern alternative to what he did, and running on the PC platform.

    Got a chance to play around with it for a few. Needs work,,,, but not bad!

    The audio is really finicky, it seems to work correctly only half of the time. Well, on my computer at least. Sound files are definitely too short, they need to be longer so the echos fade off. Also, If you can add an option to change the delay between the light and report, it would add a more realistic feel. How would I go about adding ILD files to load other other firework effects? That would be cool to make my own. Another cool option is if you could have multiple shots from the same "morter tube" not overlap quite so much by varying height and/or curvature between launches. Kind of like a random generator thing....

    Other than that, I love the layout and ease of use. The GUI is very intuitive and easy to understand. I think this could become a really cool app with a little more time. I'd love to help but I know nothing about coding and stuff.

    Cool- that is great feedback.
    One nice thing is that the sound files are just separate files sitting out in a sub directory. That means that one of our audio experts here can find some new files for us to try. I can make it more dynamic so there are more than just 10 as well. If you wanted a little delay between the light and the boom, you could just add a little bit of blank space at the front of the audio clip. The taper off at the end is a good idea too.

    I am adding a "salvo count" so that you can pick a repeat # of shots from one click of the button. There will be a variable delay between shots too.

    All of the effects are generated via code, using SIN, COS, and PI so there are really no ILD frames involved. I thought that was the interesting part. I could probably make it record the frames in the QM board's buffer though, if someone wanted to save frames for use elsewhere. I will first concentrate on getting it to the point where it actually makes something worthwhile.

    One last odd thought- how about a TTL output at the moment of explosion that could be used to trigger a strobe? I'll put that way down on the list!

    I will update this thread with the next zip file instead of just emailing it all over, or I will stash it somewhere and provide a link.

    Here is an updated version- I got sick of not remembering what number went with what shell type so I made some preview thumbs. You can also now specify a number of salvos 1-10 for repeat shots. You can specify the time between salvos using the track bar.
