Default Lexel /Cooper 88a PS and OEM 95-2 Tube

    Help !
I just bought a Lexel/Cooper system with a 88a power supply running on 220v single phase and a Cooper/Lexel head with a 95-2 tube. The head was last serviced by Laser Innovations.
So here is the problem, I hooked it up last night to fire it up, had the water flowing fast enough to trip the flow switch, put power to it, flipped the breakers, pressed the power button and got nothing. No lights, no power-up no nothing. I know that there must be jumpers that have to be set. I have have the ones on the Amph. plug that I thought may have been set already which I need to check. I need all the jumpers to make sure I have the right ones jumped but the ones I really think I need are the ones on the DB-15 plug for the remote on the back of the PS. There is also a set of relays that I think I have identified as the interlock relays but there is no markings as to what they are or what number they are. If any one knows or what color each interlock wire is this would help too. This is a medical head so I am pretty sure that this requires a remote hooked-up to light.
Does anyone have what wires I need to jump to get this thing to light. I will attach pictures of the unit below
    Thanks

On relay K8 there are 2 purple wires, one will ohm out to one side of the "power on" switch, the other will ohm out to the thermal interlock overtemp switch on the passbank, TH1.

Unsolder one of the two purple wires and solder it on top of the other.

This will complete the interlock chain.

BUT if the two front panel line neons did not light, this means f1 and f2, the main 40 amp fuses are blown. Usually this means one or more of the following, the main power rectifier diodes on the passbank are bad, a passbank transistor is shorted from collector to emitter, the filter cap is shorted/blown, the magnet is shorted or miswired, the buck boost was tapped wrong, or the head was miswired. In rare cases both neons are just blown.

If both F1 and F2 are blown, do not press START, you can press power on, BUT DO NOT PRESS START.

IF F1 or F2 is blown, DO NOT JUST PUT SHORTING BARS ACROSS THE FUSES, fix what caused the problem. I've repaired more then one totally blown passbank for someone who decided fuses are too expensive and that 14 transistors would be cheaper.

The only way you can test the 4 rectifier diodes is to unsolder them.

The transistors can be tested in place with a ohm meter.

Sam, when I sent him the drawings, decided lexel's numbering system is a mess, and so his part numbers will not line up with all of lexels. But his redrawn schematics are accurate to the hardware.

See the other post I did for you about rewiring the head and the tap charts, which are also in the FAQ. Remember with the 96 you have 3.2V cathode, not the 2.65V of a 88.

If you just stuck the 95 head on there without a rewire, you have serious problems in your control wiring now from sparks.

The head in the pictures is a 95, not a 295 Right? What exactly is on the sticker on the magnet? 295s are too long for a 88 to lase, and that has 295 wrote on in pencil. A 295 is a 2 inch longer bore and a magnet that draws a lot of power, the 88 might get a plasma lit but will not lase it at any power.

remember you have to set the taps for a 3.2V cathode and possibly for max boost, but keep the AC control voltage measured between the two blue jacks less then 130V.

Thumbs up More pics of the Cooper Lexel 88a Laser

    Hi Steve and all;
Here are some more pics of the head and PS that I thought might help with the ID. I also will include a scan of the Laser Innovations Tube Test Sheet.
More pics on the FTP site under /Pics/Cooper Lexel 88a PS 95-2 head
    Thanks for the help
