Well, RE: a 'venue' - I suppose we *could* use the Vine Theater - it's certainly 'available' - I think we could get it for about $400. (or maybe, even less - if there's interest, I can see what I can 'negotiate'...
still on 'good terms' with the owner, so, it's 'likely'...)

I mean, it's a pretty big-venue (~600 seats) and plenty of power; House-sound is 'eah - so-so', but there... And a fairly-large stage to set-up projectors for RP / aerials, and a niiice-big screen for FP / graphics...

Also, zero problems with fog or late-hours or neighbors (ie: if someone wants to bring-in some 'monster-sound-system' or something...) and then we can all go-up to 'Laserium' in VanNuys for some Floyd / Zeppelin / Beatles / NIN and U2 'dessert'.. (sorry, but not-too 'keen' on dragging a Laserium projector / Ion-down to the theater, again... would be a bit 'wierd', too... And plenty of 'good-eats' in the neighborhood...

'Cheap-hotels' for any 'out-of-towners'? - meh, prolly *not* in downtown Hollywierd, but I do know of a couple, up here in 'the Valley' that are quite-reasonable, and very close to the 101...

The 'other' option, is we could do-it at 'our' space, in Van Nuys (we rent space with Laser Images...and then, 'dessert' comes 'with the meal' but it is pretty-much a 'mess' from recent move / space-consolidation, and the 'larger' of the two 'Studios' would at-most, hold about 25, comfortably... no-problems with fog / sound, hours / etc. but I guess we'd be willing to do it for the 'cost of the juice' - maybe $250. or something, like that.... The 'Vine' would certainly-be a more...well, 'cinematic' venue for a LEM...

Thoughts? Date-ideas? Lemme know...

I got an IM from DjProAllen and asked me to post this, since he is banned. I know there is a lot of drama on the boards with him (which I've stayed out of because it deals with much more technical stuff, than I know about), but I told him I would post it because it wouldn't hurt.

He said that he has a warehouse in Fullerton that he would be willing to use, it's in an industrial area. We can make as much sound as we like. It has 3 Phase power, water and can we can do fog. We can use it for free. He can provide us with 120V extension cords. It could be used almost any day, but he said May 28th and 29th would be ideal.

the drama had nothing to do with technical stuff. It had everything to do with his know it all attitude, his lack of respect to those offering free advise, his lying, his false advertising and a host of other things that are not worth my time to go into.

If you deal with him, you do so at your own risk...however it would be funny to see DSLI-JON and him in the same room, i might pay a quarter to see that...OBTW if you do use his facility, bring your safety goggles.

Yeah, uh, I think the 'problem' there is, I, for one, just flat-out don't trust the guy's word anymore - I mean, we'd all probably show-up to "his" warehouse, set-up, and get 'blasing' - - only to find out that we'd actually busted-into the lair of the local Armenian Mafia, and we'd all end-up full of hot lead and/or on a table-saw somewhere in the back... ... ask him to 'send pix'...

...and his 'Docket number' - surely, he's filed, by-now... (oh, and a Client of ours (filing for a KTP / projector design, no-less...) filed their Var-app ~ April 10th, and already have gotten their Doc#, so it ain't that difficult / vacuous...)

If he's got a Variance, AND he's willing to apologize to Pat, Steve, Spec, and everyone here (less-me, I don't really care...) for lying and manipulating everyone - AND take-down the deviance-encouraging illegal audience-scanning content on his site - his or not - THEN, maybe - MAYBE, he might deserve a 'fourth chance'... outside of that... ...since, if he has not 'changed' at all, I would see him hosting a LEM as nothing more than a thinly-veiled way for a '3-strike con-artist' (IMO) to get more free 'help' and design-ideas... ...Just my happy, sunshiney Opinion...

OBTW if you do use his facility, bring your safety goggles.
