Wow! I go out for a meal with my sister-in-law, and look what I miss!
Pat, if you can make it to SELEM, I *promise* you'll have an awesome time! There will be a ton of cool things going on both days.
Carlos: The closest airport is Charlotte International (50 minutes from the venue), but you can also fly into Greensboro, NC or Raleigh NC if you can get cheaper tickets to those cities. (Greensboro is 90 minutes from the venue, while Raleigh is about 2.5 hours away.)
Steve:
Awesome that you're taking on the challenge of building the buffered splitter. I agree that the interlock lines should loop on each of the 6 outputs. As for color lines - there are probably 3 projectors that will need violet. Everyone else should be OK with just RGB. (The one's that have blu-ray in their projectors might be better off just using a standard "Y" cable made of IDC connectors and a short length of ribbon cable to link to the closest neighboring projector.)
As for Audio - we've got it covered this year. Between DZ and myself, we'll be bringing 3 amps and 4 speaker cabinets giving us a combined total of 3200 watts RMS into *four* 15 inch woofers, two 12 inch woofers, and four horns. Oh, and then we can jack in to the house sound system and get a little bit more if we need it.Stuka is bringing a 16-channel mixer, and so am I, so we should be able to link multiple computers to the sound system, allowing just about anyone to play a show through the complete sound system.

Good GNUS, thanks to some very rare FREE consulting by my boss, we will have (high probability, 90% or Better) hum free audio this year. Buffo just paid 64$ for the boxes that will do it.
The real good news is this means he will NOT be lifting any grounds.

What Steve means is that all AC power will be properly grounded this year. It's a dirty little secret that if you lift the ground on your equipment, you eliminate the ground loop. However, you also increase the risk of electrocution! (Not to mention lots of other potential problems that could lead to equipment damage.) It's risky, but in a pinch it *will* get rid of the dreaded 60 cycle hum. This is what we ended up doing last year.
Fortunately, that won't be a problem this year. I just bought a pair of direct boxes with ground-lift capability. They'll go between the final mixer and the amps, effectively isolating all our gear from the amps. Thus no ground loop, and no 60 cycle hum. Best of all, they were on sale! Hooray!
Pat:
Are you still thinking about making the trip? Because I think we might be able to help out a bit... DZ and Mophead have both pledged $20, and I'll join them in that. If we get a few more people to toss a little in the pot, maybe that plane ticket won't sting quite so much.
Whatcha say pal? Are you up for a weekend of laser fun on the east coast?

I got $20 on it if you need it Pat!![]()
That's $100, free ride from the airport, plus free hotel stay. Come on Pat, you gonna make it?!??!
I'd be willing to contribute to the cause -
I think Pat has been around long enough to earn "Special Guest" status!
Plus, just think of the stories he and Steve could share about Life as a Laserist in the good ol' days!!
(And we want the good stuff, too - not the edited stories cleaned up for family gatherings)
Just think, this time next weekend...![]()

So, everyone that's going - log off and get to work!!
