    Hey Gashead

I don't know, some times when it's really really quite i can still hear the call of the trolley....lol

It's funny, i spent 3 and bit days putting my laser together in a mad rush, now i've done as much as i can. It all seems an anti-climax. Being unemployed can get abit boring. Especially in the winter time.

    Cheers

Go down to income support, and tell them you want to start a laser show company, and to give you lots of cash to do so, oh and that you'll need a van some helpers (pref Blond female Uni Student's) and lots of drugs and alcohol. (hmm they call those luxuries don't they ? )

I know the feeling mate, I been in your situation before - it can be mighty depressing..

Suppose you could always move further up north, winter is milder up there.. one of my fave parts of NZ.

Ooo er. You've just started a Showeditor exchange site. Next thing we'll be having a specialist section.

Is HE Laserscan any cheaper than the FB3 BTW?

I thought it was about 150 Euros for the pro version + that you then need to buy a DAC. That surely puts it in the pango price bracket?

    Heya White-light

yeah it's nice to know i'm not alone, i really like the laserworld software, well it's really just a licensed and non-compatable verson of HE-laserscan. I've been talking to a guy called Erich on the HE-laserscan site. He said aluded to the fact that it is possible for the laserworld software to be compatable with the HE-laserscan software. But laserworld would have to give it the go ahead, which he feels is highly unlikely. It would be awesome if it did, if would open up a hugh amount of free stuff available on the net for HE-laserscan. And maybe give the company some good press, unlikely....

here's some beam pics Allthatwhichis wanted. Sorry i ca'nt do any beam still, but the dongle is over and i'm just getting kaos unless i push the 25 pin plug sideways.

    Cheers

    Well...
Mates....Here I have to say and... here I have to deny...

IF I had to buy a lasersoftware starting from the beginning... well...I have any doubt: between Showeditor and FB3 I choose FB3 by Pango, absolutely!
But I have, at the present, two DAC units from Laserworld. To buy a new software and two news DAC units would means to spend a lot of fooooook'n money!!!

I have any idea about He-Laserscan price, but I think it is cheaper than FB3 (maybe around 100-150 Euros cheaper). But I am also sure FB3 is more powerful, more stable and more complete than HE-Laserscan or Showeditor.

For all Showeditor users now (very few people we are...) :

I have about 30 shows (originals and made from me also)

    PM me if interested

    Cheers!

    Heya Steve

Thanks for the offer, i'll be keen to swap some live show effects when i get my dongle back. I've put so much time into building my laser and very little learning to program it, yet.

I think I gave you the wrong impression. I don't have the Laserworld software, in fact I've never tried it so can't really comment on its quality. I was merely passing comment on the fact that you were all swapping shows. Nice thing to be doing.

Hope you get the dongle sorted one way or another.

Did you inspect the board with your naked eye or a jewler's loupe (or *good* magnifying glass)?

From what you are describing; it's probably a fractured or incomplete solder joint.

Also; have you tried another cable?

    Heya Whitelight

Yeah, i ment Steve Milani not you. lol
I was just replying to your

    Heya Doc.

Yeah, i checked but the boards muilty layered and the plug it's self concels the joins.
If the problem is in the plug, it's imposible to inspect due to it's construction. I agree with what you say. But there's nothing i can do that wo'nt damage the board.

I realise now i've had this probably for quite a while but i mis-diagnosed it as the y-galvo over heating. The is the first time i tryed the cables and their plugs when it was doing it.

I've tryed another ILDA cable but not a USB cable. The fault disappears when the 25 pins plug into the donge is forced sideways reguardless of cable. I'd say the faults in either pin 2 or 15 the Y-axis galvo signal pins. I've checked them as far as i can and i can see no obious damage.

I'll keep everyone here informed of my progress with laserworld. Here's hopeing. If i had no other option, i'd have a go at butchering it if there was nothing else to lose.

But i paid 528.75 euros inc. freight and tax for it, i still have 2 months left on the warrenty, i've never mis-used it and there's no sign of damage to the caseing.
But i still have this nagging doubt. I guess i just worry to much.....lol.
Sometimes it's useful and other times it just gets in the way.

    Cheers

    Tinker
