Laser Warning comparison of 635nm & 640nm in RGB

    Hi Guys:

A lot of you guys know this, but here is my demo of it.

I had a Laserwave 400mw 635nm laser in my RGB. Notice the fatness of the red beam, and the red splash projecting up from the top mirror because the red beam was larger than the scanner mirrors.

Now look at this video with no red splash coming off the Y mirror and a more narrow red beam using a Laserwave 400mw 640nm labby.

Nothing else was changed in the RGB other than the red laser. To me 635 red is BB (bright and beautiful) for beams, but NSG (not so great) for graphics. I got red spill in graphics on either side of any line calling for red.

    Yes, I am too anal.

That's a great red beam Marc & Bridge.

Thanks for posting that up.. I hate red leakage, it drives me up the wall. I'm loosing heaps of my red to the tops of the scanners. I'm looking for a comparo with 650 and 640 (and or both combined) if anyone has one!?

    Cheers...

You have a beam expander than reduces a wide stripe multimode 635nm diode output to a 3mm/1mR beam?

    Lets see it

what is also possible is to split the beam in two equal parts, and rotate the polarisation of one beam and recombine them with a cube

Just few pics about my new LW 640nm, hoping to be helpful to choose the best....
New red is inside of my RGB n°2 (under refurbishment) and others laser head are: ~320mw @473; ~150mw @532. Most part of pics show the red gradation available.
(All pics taken at 70-75% of maximum power, except the last one at full power).
A big "Thanks" to Bridge & Stanwax for high quality of products and service! I also highly recommend their 640nm reds.

Nice tight beam Stefano. What power 640 did you get?
