    Default Lexel 95 and PS

Seems I just picked up a Lexel 95 w/ 400hours and the power supply.

Anyone interested in me bringing it to SELEM?

Hell YA! Someone should be able to bring it to life at SELEM

Sounds like the same person (Tedd) another member on PL had a deal with. I was on my way to pick it up and then the guy called when I was on the way and backed out of the deal. Good luck hope you are treated better than we were.

    Yeah. I know.

After talking with DZ earlier, i really felt shitty. I had really no idea that you guys were even involved until after the fact.

    Cool

No foul Doug - you had no idea DZ was dealing on the same laser.

Just bring that bastard to SELEM and we'll get Steve Roberts to have a look. If anyone can get it lasing, he can.

Thats at least two , maybe 3 95s at SELEM.

I will teach you how to diagnose a control card/passbank failure in 15 minutes or less. Bring a notebook and copies of 88CSCH.PDF and 001-88PSCH.PDF from SAM's FAQ. The other two schematics are nice to have.
WARNING, you must set the cathode and buck/boost taps correctly before firing the laser.

Bring Orings, perferably both the flat washer and round classical O-ring styles. Avoid the cheap molded plastic ones, get rubber.
Check your hose fittings before departure.

These are in order of failure rate you will want to stock the MPSAs and 301s, 3738 is hard to get, 3773 is at digikey. Those two rarely fail.

IF you are bringing a 95 or 88 to SELEM,
    please bring:

LM301A In round metal can (741A works in a pinch)
    1N823 (1) (6.2V ZENER)
    MPS6531 (4) (NPN TRANSISTOR)
    MPS6534 (4) (PNP TRANSISTOR)
    1n4744 (2) (15V ZENER)
    1n5363B (2) (30V ZENER, 5 watt)
    1N4747A (3) (20V ZENER)
    2N3773 passbank driver NPN
    2N3738 Passbank Driver NPN

Some methanol to clean your optics.
Tiffin (took over Kodak) Lens Tissue

I am away from home and may not be able to get to my parts stash before selem.
I will have one spare control card with me and the wattmeter and tools and a LBT (little bitty tester)

Dont buy leaky surplus MPSA transistors, get good ones

Some time down the road you can copy my 88 or 95 manuals, but I WILL only have fragments with me.

I doubt I will have a alignment hene with me this year, so if yours has a prism, let me know RIGHT NOW.

It wasn't your fault at all, mophead. To be honest, I think the seller is a jerk for doing what he did. I made him an offer for it, he counter-offered and I accepted. LJK was on his way to pick it up while the guy was actively trying to get a higher a higher offer.

All I can say is I hope you get your hands on it quick, he may change his mind again...

always windbagging about his solid state rig blowing everything away?

    Hmmm, Caught red handed DZ

Yeah, but he called me about it and I twisted his arm a good bit on the phone. Finally got him talked into the deal, but then the seller decided to be a douche about it.

Fortunately, Mophead did get it - or at least we're pretty sure he's got it, unless the seller starts playing games again.

Bottom line: when you can get a Lexel 95 for a few hundred bucks, you TAKE IT.
