    yet another update!

    i went ahead and placed the order today and she said they would ship within 12hrs. once they do it will take about 4-5 days to get to me and then another 2-3 days to reach USA residents.

    What about properly coated lenses for the 405's?
    Igor on lpf has found lenses that give a dramatic performance increase compared to the default axis lenses, about 20% output increase. That is sure something worth pursuing but due to some personal problems he has gone offline now for quite a while.

    jayrob from lpf has the 405g-1 lens that gives almost a 30% increase and larry dfw from lpf has another broadband coated lens that works with reds or blu rays.

    Cool

    How much do these lenses cost? If you've got a spare lying around and it's not too steep, I'll bite...

    If I can remember correctly they are all right around $50 for the lens & housing.

    lol its closer to 60$ but if you have the money they are worth it. the ld wont degrade as much from light reflecting back into the die. ive got some ar coated 405 lenses that are triple element but they only give 10-15% more power.. the lenes from jay and larry are single aspheric lenses.

    The high AR, short F.L. aspheric lenses are fairly expensive, but they provide up to 30% more power on a Blu-Ray LD.

    I provide bare lenses, or complete lens assemblies to fit in the 9mm Aixiz laser diode housings.

    Here is the link on LPF for more info on the lenses:

    I've got another 8X ordered from Drew.

    Thanks;

    I feel it's only fair to interject that often with the current homebrew 405-coated lens assemblies the power boost comes at the cost of beam quality. If you're simply looking for a power boost, they're great, but if you are concerned with having decent beam specs with a nice spot and very little scatter, the custom 405nm lenses might not be what you want. Do a little research on LPF about them, you'll find picture comparisons that show what I am describing..

    Aixiz has just recently begun providing a multi-element 405nm lens assembly comparable to their glass lens for red lasers. According to some of the people who have tested them, the power gains (while decent) are not as high as the homebrew lens assemblies, likely due to the fact that they are multi-element rather than a single lens, but the beam is much more clean.

    Just food for thought..
