    Default laser for building projection

    Hello Everybody

We just found about this forum a couple of days ago and let me tell you, you have plenty of valuable information. Thanks to every contributor. Hope in the coming months we get experienced enough to contribute.

Now, me and my brother are just opening a small advertising company and we intend to project logos, etc onto buildings. We are starting out with a 3W green-laser (Power VX2 from Medialas).

Do you think this 3W projector would fit our needs? What is your opinion about the laser system Power VX2 from Medialas?

    We appreciate your help.

    Regards,

    Kuerten

    hey kuerten-

welcome to the forum. 3W for some basic ad needs will work great. if you look HERE at my website and scroll down a little bit, you will see some ad work i did on the side of a building from about a 1/4 mile away. that was ~3W actually turned down (which i didnt realize till afterwards) to about 1.5W-2W.

green is GREAT for visibility. So you are starting out in pretty good shape. you should do fine! where you from?

Hey Marc, thanks for your prompt response...

Yes, we also thought green was the way to go (way cheaper than RGB's)...

Do you have any opinion about Power VX2 from Medialas?

One more question... do you have any experience with Mamba Black and Pangolin software? Which one would you think we should start out with?

Thanks again Marc for your input!

    hey kuerten-

Do you have any opinion about Power VX2 from Medialas?
I personally have never used them. i have always heard very good things about medialas products though. I cant remember ever hearing anything specific to that model though. If it was BAD, i am QUITE sure it would be known here. So i think you made a good choice.

do you have any experience with Mamba Black and Pangolin software? Which one would you think we should start out with?
Mamba black, NO. Pangolin, YES. again, both products have EXCELLENT reputations from what i have read and seen. Anyone will probably tell you that Pangolin is "top notch" professional software. It is in almost everyones opinion, the best. However, you will be paying for the best. i dont know pricing for mamba, but pango is definitely NOT CHEAP. but, it is worth EVERY PENNY!

if you are just starting out doing "simple" advertising, start with Pangolin's FB3 hardware/software. it is VERY affordable and it comes waith SUPERB software!!

Thanks again Marc for your input!
No problem! what we're all here for!

    hi kuerten

    Welcome to the forum

i have had experience with both .... and to decide between both is dificult .. it depends on your aplication ....

but personaly ... my recomendation is that if you only want to project on on the building and run a preprogrammed show .... Mamba is fine ....

but if you need to run more advanced features in the future... its better to spend the small extra investment on pangolin now .... rather than find you need to later

    both have their merits ....

    personaly P comes before M

    Marc & Banthai,

Thank you, I appreciate your info...

I thought so, there is more information about P than M...

But now, which version of P should we go for... For instance, with the Intro version, am I going to be able to create logos and make nice looking effects?

Marc: those projections you have in your webiste are exactly what we are after... nice.

i guess that depends on how much cash you have to spend

yes you will be able to create logos and effects

if you can max out with the pro .... all the better .... also good idea to go for the .net version as this is so easy to move around computers

also live pro will be a good investment

but after seeing the new Livequickshowsoftware ( whatever bills calling it ) i would also consider a flashback 3.... im sure this would be versatile enough for you ....

    good luck in your venture

    all the best ... Karl

    Thank you Karl...

I think we are going for the basic version, and upgrade as neccesary.

    Anyone is doing building advertising?

    Thanks

I think there are many people around who do that sometimes, but not exclusively

    Hi Kuerten

    Firstly welcome to the forum

In the UK, there is Paul (Lasermad) who does outdoor advertising on buildings, I would say he was the UK's 'expert' on this sort of work. He's a real nice guy and can probably give you some really good advice.

I too have recently started to do one or two bookings with outdoor advertising, but only in a very small way. I use two 1 watt Laserwave green lasers.

    Hope this helps
