    Default interesting effect

Price on this seems off the hook, what i founf most interesting about this flebay add was the application of stimulating glow in the dark material with a laser has any one else seen this type of application or use of lasers in the past ? .... what is the glow in the dark material ?

What you need are "phosphorescent" objects. Florescent things will glow while the Blu Ray hits them. Phosphorescent things will continue to glow after you remove the laser. The quickest way to do it may be to buy glow in the dark paint at the local craft store and paint a piece of cardboard or foam core. But not all glow in the dark paint is created equal.

you may also perhaps mix it with other dyes, as the phosphorescent paint could energize the other dyes (never tried though)

"off the hook" is a good thing, right? Keep in mind it's not actually 150mW, more like 100. It also does not include a driver. Someone at LPF would probably sell you the same thing for $20.

I've got some 12" square sticky GITD sheets. TONS of fun with a blu-ray. Member yobresal had a bunch for awhile.. you could PM him, maybe he has more.

I've got about a dozen of them, but I'm planning on using them to make a screen on which I'll project a blu-ray scanner doing abstracts.. should be interesting.

i recently bought a quart of benjamin moore glowpaint from www.coxpaint.com. they're no longer listing it, but maybe if you give them a call..

it works very nicely with bluray diodes. i'm planning on projecting lumia on a ~5'x5' screen covered with the stuff.
suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

Is it safe to assume it does not have to be a blue ray diode to creatre the effect, any laser will energise the paint surface?

Mmm just thinking of use in a night club environment, in which case 750 or 1500 W stobe may effectivly charge the paint and this effect would be minimised as surface would allready be toasted per se

glow in the dark stuff really likes to be charged by UV/near UV so your best bet is bluray diodes.

a strobe should also charge it. if you've even seen a "shadow wall" at a museum, that's just a wall painted in glow paint and being hit with strobe.

In my experience, blu-ray lasers are the only kind that work with maximum effect. you could probably get some results using any blue laser, but the closer to the visible side of UV the laser is, the better it will work.
