    Default Lighting in Australia?

I just got back from a fashion parade that I helped run at my school, and after seeing the moving heads, and running them (once again) I am hooked

I have seen some 'iMove 5s"s on various websites, but they are around 12kg each, and would be a pain in the ass to get shipped overseas, so I was wondering if any Aussies could tell me where is the best/cheapest places in AU to get this kind of stuff?

    Cheers,
    Dan

Hmm, I found them for around $500AUD each on some UK website, then again, that doesnt include shipping to Aus, so $943 isnt too bad.

You are aware they do a HID version now aren't you for slightly more money thats over twice as bright 1440 lux vs 670 lux for non HID:

(beam angle graph with brightness on page 3 here: http://prolight.co.uk/images/media/1...SHID01-um0.pdf)

Yeah, if I was to buy them I would go with the HID version.

And don't forget that you would also need to pay import duty on them once you get over $1000 as well as GST

Here's a link to calculate the import cost http://www.customs.gov.au/site/page.cfm?u=5549

Depending on shipping cost it could be cheaper to bring them in

Well, I wouldnt be able to afford to buy them all at once, if I end up being able to afford them at all, but I guess they are a goal for me

    EDIT: Yay 1000 posts

Cheapest option for you is going to be bringing in the cheap stuff from China.

Otherwise I don't really know any contacts up your way. Could reel off a long list of Melbourne places to try..

Hmm true, although I have seen the Acme stuff in action and I love em, so I am looking for something I know that works well.

This isnt something I am ready to go spend $$$$$ on right away, but I was just getting an idea on some places in AU that do sell this kind of stuff, as I really have no idea. I think a 20kg box from Melb to Cairns is like $50, which isnt bad, so some places you know of Dave would be cool

As always you get what you pay for, ive manage to avoid big dollars by useing scanners rather than moving heads, i prefer martin gear as its really well built, although spares are a little on the pricey side.

ive mnaged to pick up 4 martin mx4's 350.00ea and 6 Mx'1 @175.00 ea which provides a fair bit of flexibility for the dollars outlayed.

I've just moved down to Brisi and am looking for weekend work to pay for better toys, most of my gear is emerald still on hire... except for my precious... (nope the laser wont work with out an operator ... tufff

when the dollar is strong it can be worth importing form the US you just have to time it right
