Use 1x R, G, Br and when you are ready; add another red, then another Br, then upgrade your green, maybe get a 473 one day, maybe one or two 640nm reds later when you start to really get obsessed.

I would like to get a bunch of cheap lasers so its not monochrome, but the problem is that I will need the $40 blanking thing for each laser. Is there any way to do blanking on my own, even if it is only digital to start off with. And the projector quickly comes to double the price I wanted to spend on it.

Otherwise, I think I will just start with the 200mW dx module

To lazy currently to put it into PL. It has 60mW Green, 100mW Bluray 100mW Red.
    Total cost 360 Euros.
€360 = $500, A cheaper build is almost impossible for RGB.

Don't spend your money on TTL, sooner or later you want analog modulation anyway.

    Nice build andythemechanic!

Thanks! It's only RGV, I'd love to make it RGB but the blue laser will cost more then the rest of the projector . Saving some money currently!

Looking good all of you, yes you are on the path to a good cheap build. 405nm is OK for wall projection but expect no beam effects. Also double check the pass/bounce plots of your chosen dichros to make sure they will operate the way you expect out at 405. I have heard some galvo mirrors don't reflect 405nm well, but I purchased cheapie ebay galvos and didn't have a problem with that.

Also for price this should help:
The FlexMods are now on LaborDay sale.

Thanks! It was my first laserscanner. I currently write a software for it, which will be able do draw frames, animate them and do some effects. It's working already but has to be a bit extended 'til it's useful.

@ jimbo: The drivers for the lasers can be built for little money. Look for example here: http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/...ead.php?t=5428 or search for stan ham driver.

This is one of the very, VERY rare cases in lasers when cheap is better! enhanced ally coated mirrors may well yield better results than expensive dichroic jobbies with 405nm beams

    Default what is chroma software?

But you can use bluray to get white and other nice colors in you RGV.

I would say use 50mW green, 200mw red and 200me bluray for a nice balance.
    HI what is chroma software?

    Free download.

Its a tool that allows you to predict colour balance (approximately). Ideal for taking the guesswork out of laser powers when trying to achieve white.
