    Default Laser intensity

    Hello again,

I am trying to control the intensity of the beam in my scanner and it is either on or off nothing in between. Does this has to do with the software or with the scanner?

    The scanner is LANLING L868RGB

    The controler is Pangolin FB3

    The software is LiveQuick

    Thanks

This probably has more to do with your laser's modulation capabilities. Sounds like the lasers are only TTL modulated instead of analog.

Could well be the lasers, but I'm f-a-i-r-l-y sure the FB3 (and QM2k for that matter) intensity output is TTL..

FB3 will do analog, 8 bit resolution IIRC

How could I confirm if the lasers are TTL or analog?

sorry.. half asleep, saw "intensity" and read "connected to pins 3/16" my bad

Seems like you may well have TTL lasers (or modules switched to TTL only modulation) in there

well, first thing I'd do is:
    A) contact your manufacturer, and see if you can get the manuals for your projector and your laser diodes.
B)that being said, with whatever you're using to control it, there should be a brightness, power, or intensity slider, if you can slide if up and down and the laser output varies, congrats, you've got analog. If not, you either have TTL lasers, or the projector is not set up correctly for analog, see A) above

If that fails, take pics of the projector's guts, especially the laser drivers. maybe somebody here can tell you if you can switch the lasers to analog, and how to do so. It might be obvious, too.

I've searched the web for specs but it seem Lanling haven't specified the laser type anywhere I can find.

    Just found this video:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zD6QcSvXbFw

It looks very much like its TTL as there's no sign of any colour blending.

    Hello again,

I asked the builder of the laser and this is the reply from the factory:

Yes, L868RGB is Full color, i am sure.
Yes, you can not adjust the intensity of the R, G or B beams, because the diode is TTL.
If you want the laser can adjust the R, G, B beams, kindly inform me before you place your order, then i will arrange all. Thanks!

Is it possible to have full color with TTL?

    Thanks for your help!!

You have got full colour with TTL, just 7 basic colours instead of 16.7 million possible blends with analogue.

If you want analogue control you need to change the drivers for something like Dr. Lava's. However, whether or not its technically possible or viable on your particular lasers is beyond me so I'll let others reply on that one.
