Laser Warning My show Saturday night

Here is a video from Saturday night's show....

Risk Assessments were provided, MPE's calculated and measurements taken, authorities approved.

Unfortunately when one of the bands were packing up they knocked the laser (stage left) slightly out of line. The lighting guys were a little over zealous with the smoke machine at certain points... Other than that, it was a great show...

    Enjoy

Damn nice show!! And great use of LivePro
The beams appears really bright, especially when the lights were turned off , and safe enough. Did you increased the divergence to respect the MPE?

Very nice. Pity the club spoilt it by leaving those bright red lights on to the left of the desk which washed the lasers out partially. Also, slight pity the crowd didn't seem that enthusiastic for the night. Your role was brilliant though.

What level were you running ie MPE, MPE x 10 etc or can't you say publicly.

    Thanks,

Attenuation maps were used to get the beam irradiance within the levels... The camera is a little Nikon pocket cam and quite old, so it doesn't pick them up too well... In fact that camera has filmed so many lasers that it can't take photo's in the dark any more as it lets too much light in

There were three red Par Cans wired directly to the mains and no dimmer pack, so they couldn't be turned off. They wanted to highlight us guys working, but the one my right was in my eyes all night

The video was taken early in the night, then my memory card was full. But the crowd were going nuts later on... Plus, you can only really see the back of the crowd from that point, they were going for it at the front, was a real fight to get to the stage when I needed to realign that laser

Funny enough, the authorities on requesting calculations directed me to the new ILDA proposal as an example of what they expected, so it was set up well within the 10xMPE and above the older standard. If you watch closely you will see, nobody in the video is averting their view, and nobody is really illuminated with laser light...

    Cheers

This is very interesting. So the 'proposals' are already out in the wild and being used as the new benchmark for safe levels then?

Well, I wouldn't take this as authorisation to just go ahead with 10xMPE shows. It really depends on the local authority, who they appoint as safety officer and where they do their research... In this case, it looks like they found the ILDA proposal...

I'm taking this to mean you probably went 1/2 way then at 5x.
