Default [PROBLEM] DT40pro Galvos not moving

    Hi All.

Recently i bought some barely used DT40pro. After wiring and powering everything up i had to notice that the galvos didn't move into their center position like the first pair of scanners i had.

I checked the cables and the wiring again but as i thought everything was correct in its place.

The fuses on both driver boards are looking fine, no burns or anything.

Now i am panicing that Phil sold me some broken scanners.

    Any ideas from you guys?

    Please help

    HI
1, have you checked for + & - 24v on the power supply
2, take the scanner amp fuses out and check them with a meter , just because they look ok does not mean they are
3, do any of the red leds light up on the scan amps
    let me know
dont worry phils a good guy he will make things right

I would not jump to any conclusions until you hook them up to a DAC and can run some test patterns with a laser.

Do the lights on the amps come on when you give them power?

the dt 40's have a saftey jumper pin, the first time I hooked mine up I had the pins connected together, and nothing happened. those pins have to be open.

I don't know if you did that or not, but that was my first noob mistake.

Thank you all for your quick replies.

    1) Lights come up when i power them up on both drivers
    2) Safetyjumper hasen't been located yet -> need to find out

#) Got some idea from someone else who told me to try and connect the ilda x+ (y+) to driver + on both sites then connect gnd to gnd and x- (y-) to ilda gnd so that (-) on both sides isn't in use at all.
    - what do you think of it

    Check out post #5

that should help you wire up your scanners, as well as identify the safety. it is open by default, so unless you've made that connection you don't need to worry about it.

Are you certain that neither scanner snaps to center when you apply power? If that were the case, then either both amps, both scanners or a combination is blown. If you *VERY CAREFULLY* turn the mirror on one scanner, then apply power and it just doesn't move at all then the fuse and/or poly switch should be checked.

That pic is of an older model amp, the safety pin header isn't located in the same position anymore. Maybe Firestarter can give us a couple pics of his setup and wiring so that we might see what's going on?

So what would the safety jumper pins be used for exactly?

Just disabling them or for some other safety protect circuit?

all I know is that I connected them the first time I put my scanner together, and it was a no go, to utilize it as a safety, you connect the pins to something that trips closed. when there is continuity between them the amps don't function.

A few months later - i finally got to work on my project again - i had a little visit at nohoes house.
We managed to get my dt40pro working by replacing the psu.

Now we dicovered a new "problem" ... while displaying a test picture over an easylase dac as well as a netlase dac the scanners (@10k) seem to loose positioning as the scan angle rises above 60 to 80% of its maximum.
The picture was suffering a massive disortion and only a hard reset by cutting the power brought them back to normal (with a reduced scan angle of course).

Tonight i am going to renew all the wiring, from powersource to ilda regarding the scanners and then do some further testing.

At this place my apology to phil of course. I am always a little too nervous about things not working and stuff.
