What about using a Van de Graf? High voltage but low currents so relatively safe.

That'd be one huge generator! haha

The control interface is almost completed!

Due to a shipping error, my LEDs may be a while longer yet

If my connection supports it, I may eventually create a web interface and setup a webcam stream, meaning anyone can go along and fiddle with the machine over the internet

if so, you should give 5 minutes tickets based on host name, otherwise it will be an expensive christmas decoration blinking randomly from the numerous people trying to control it at the same time lol

Added a pressure reading to the interface!

At the moment it's just reading from a potentiometer, I need to wait for my bank account to recover so I can purchase a pressure sensor. (Just bought 15" touchscreen monitor )

This pressure reading will allow me to set categories more specifically, so if the tornado dies, the category goes down with it.

Even thinking about adding an option so you can SET the pressure!

Add helium so you can have lightning at Atmospheric pressure :-)
Really does lower the firing voltage in Air.

Is the fog, fog machine fog, or water vapor fog from one of those ultrasonic things?

    Really cool!

Yep, I have 2 of them in a bucket of water under a piece of acrylic with holes in it. The fog control is controlling a fan which forces air into that box.
