Default Interesting New Power Meters from Coherent

Came across these whilst searching for something else:

    http://www.coherent.com/Lasers/index...w.page&id=1713

Coherent are now doing USB laser heads which connect to your pc and measure power levels or even beam profiles on the optical versions entirely using software and the sensor. What's more they claim the same accuracy as a dedicated meter with additional analysis features.

Thought this might be of interest because most people use laptops or netbooks for laser displays anyway. So rather than packing a laser head + power meter + laptop / net book potentially you only need the laptop / netbook which you'd have anyway and a laser head thus saving space.

Thats not much more than the heads though Ben.

    A PM10 will set you back $895.

A meter will set you back another $995 for a Coherent digital type as were sold on here a while ago.

Collectively that's nearl $2000 vs $1,200 for the USB and the USB ones with the software have the same claimed accuracy and more features.
