    Default Laserwave 25mm dichros

I received my laserwave 25mm dichros today. I will be comparing them to my Edmund Optic dichros so stay tuned to this thread. The first that I noticed is that they are at least 1/2 as thick as the Edmund dichros. I am wondering if I will have any problems in the mounts. I will let you know.

    Cool

Hmmm... I would think that thinner would equal less losses on the transmission side. Very interested in your results though.

For what it's worth, those custom dichros I'm ordering from Semrock (the narrow-band ones that reflect 635 and pass 660) will only be ~ 2 mm thick, according to the engineer I spoke with. That's *really* thin compared to the thick honkin' dichros I have from Edmunds... So maybe there's something to the idea of a thin dichro.?.

    Did you finished the test?

With my laserwave dichro's have about 10% loss on pass trough, so thats pretty bad.

I think its because of the bad (chinese) AR coating used.

I've never seen dichros with less than 10% loss on pass through. Where would one purchase some?

Are you guys using them at exactly 45 degrees?, if so, that could possible be your problem. You may be able to acheive better results if you angle tune them.

Yes, I have only tested it with 45 degrees. But in most cases 45 degrees is the only option.

Here in Europe we can get dichro's with 3% pass trough, but they will be a little bit more expensive.

I think the cause is bad Chinese AR coating.

On my PBS from laserwave I also have 10% loss on pass trough and 4% on refelect.

now, i did not use a protractor to measure exactly 45 degrees. but its pretty damn near close.
