Anyone else miss the Ad at the top of the page?
How about a poll, to see what ppl think.
1) Admin! Can you please put it back up?
2) forget about it, no ads please!

I know it helped me find the subscription page a lot quicker, might help other new users too..

If you could post a reply here in the thread as to why you chose either way that would be great.

Simple binary switches like this are one thing but the process and reasons behind your decision are what really matter.

I voted no. Not on top because it ruins the lay-out of the site. Elsewhere is no problem for me.

The reason i would like it back up there or anywhere on the front page is because of the old saying: "out of sight out of mind"
New users would not be able to find the "backdoor" way of subscribing, at least i could not!
No1 likes ads, i can understand that.

The ads are overwhelming.
This site also needs the financial support, and the least Admin could do, is allow those that wish to help to easily find the subscription page.

It doesn't matter to me, I blocked the image and didn't even know it was removed. I will donate as I have funds available, at donate@photonlexicon.com via Paypal. So I didn't vote, but if you are logged in as guest I think it should show up. But I am for a single banner on top even if corporate sponsors get a rotating banner that is a good idea, guests get the donate and a rotating banner. I am quite willing to become a monthly payer as soon as I get a monthly paycheck!

when i was young "ger" we used to promote gigs .....we new that we had to advertise to get paying punters through the door on the night ....

and our motto was " if people dont know .... people wont show"

and that has become true with all my business dealings

its only self promotion .... we are not seeing ads for HP laser printers or Laser eye sight correction .... its an Ad for PL

why not have the Ad on the main page... but once you subscribe ... you dont see the Ad ..... because then "mission acomplished"

didn't care for the ads from outside the post- although I respect admins decisions regarding
keeping the site afloat- whatever spec needs to do should be

But I do like the internal self PR such as the diachi banner- that can stay if members only

I'm all for the ad. Anything to get members to contribute $10 a month to keep this site going and maintained makes sense to me. Another suggestion, I think the corporate sponsors ($100 a month) should have a rotating banner per refresh of the home page. I think this would be fair for the contribution.
