Default Adding 640 to Maxyz 658 questions

    Gentlemen,

I will be either adding a Laserwave 640nm to my existing 658nm Maxyz duals...or replacing the Maxyz's. I would like to combine both colors. I know a few of you have done this....how did you do it ?????...If I just replace the 658nm Maxyz's....with a LW 500mw 640....will the Edmonds NT47-266
Dichro be good to use....or is a different Dichro necessary.
Another problem will be space !!! I can " double decker " the mayxz modules.....but if I need to angle the 640 laser head....that will not be happening....no room !!!!! Thans for your help !!!!!!

    Thanx....

    Cool

Your reflect-red, pass green dichro that you got from Edmund's will work just fine with 642 nm red. So if you replace the Maxyz modules with the Laserwave unit, you'll be just fine.

On the other hand, if you want to mix 642 nm with 660 nm, then you'll need to do some work. If you only have one diode at each wavelength you can use the PBS cube from your dual maxyz rig to mix the two.

But if you want to keep your dual Maxyz rig *and* add the 642 red, then you'll need a custom dichro that will reflect 642 while passing 660. We did a group buy on these dichros last year, and they were expensive. (Around $170 or so) They are still available though. (Either this one, or possibly this one, will be what you need. Call them to be sure before you order.)

Thanx Adam... Can you believe it ???? ONE month after getting my projector up and running.....just starting to figure out LD2000....and I want to add/replace with 640nm...and was seduced by the great price from Connecticut Lasers !!!
But...whereas I have great vertical flexibility....I have very limited horizontal space to augment !!!! Bottom line is that if I have to angle place the 640 head...I am SOL !!!
Perhaps the best/only way to go is settle for 1 Maxyz module and mix'em at the PBS...as you noted. I would be happy with that option !!!
Different topic....Do we have any tentative release date for Quickshow....running on LD2000 ????? THANX again....OH...my first show will be of a rotating Milk Bone...haha
    who saw that commin???...Thanx...Bob

I have one of the dichros if you are interested in one. I don't think I will be using it.

Bill said that Quickshow for the QM-2000 will be released "some time in 2010". I had expected it to come out early, however, it appears that they are working out a few minor bugs in the FB3 version right now, and that effort will probably delay the release of Quickshow for the QM-2000.
