    Default LiveQuick scrolling text problem

    Hi everyone
I have an FB3 into which I need to program a scrolling text message to run on power up. This I have acheived without bother and it works a treat except for the fact that the animation (scroll) is not a constant speed.
I have tried creating the scroll using the animate screen from the cue editor and I have also created the scroll externally in an ilda frame stream (in Mamba) and imported it into the cue but they both do the same thing in LQ.
What happens is the text appears the right hand edge like its arrived late and realises everyones looking so it rushes on then slows down to an acceptable pace. As it disappears off the left edge of the frame it speeds back up and rushes out of sight.
This is a real PIA as I want - rather need a smooth constant speed scroll from left to right.

    Any clues out there???

    Ta

I don't have my fb3 in front of me at the moment, so can't be checked.....

Try padding the text with spaces before and after. OR try some random text before and after but with black as the chosen color.

Thanks for the suggestion but I tried the black text before and after and no difference

Hey Rob do you have time to Email Bill about this before you have to set up the installation?

I had a quick look at LQ and I could not even figure out how to make the text scroll so I'm not going to be of much help but hope you get this sorted before the time comes.

How about creating the text Que in QS and see if that can be played back in LQ.

Cues from QS cant be exported.....Plus I think there are some issues as i have been plaing around with text in QS and it does some random things.

To animate the text (there dont seem to be a quick and dirty scroll text doofa)
Go to a blank cue right click and edit
use the text tool to make the text (try as I did by writing 'test message')
Change the X & Y size to 0.44 - it should all fit in the window at once then
On the bottom of the editor right click the frame and duplicate.
Now using the 'move' tool drag the text from the second frame all the way so its off the grid to the left and drag the text from the first frame so its off the grid to the right.
    Now click animate
select a fair number of frames 200-400 maybe
    ok and ok again
    play the cue
voila scrolling text but with the annoying rush in rush out.

If you animate a shape - circle for example or indeed a single letter its animates smoothly

Thanks for the pointer Rob. It's a shame QS dose not make any use of the stand alone feature of the FB3. May be Pangolin have overlooked the needs of an installation like this that starts up and shuts off automatically with no human intervention. Pangolin have a good feature here that I don't think any other software manufacturer provide and they are talking of dropping it on the planned new FB3. A bit of a step backwards if you ask me but Pangolin must have there reasons for dropping this feature.

I would say this is due to the fact that as the text leaves, theres less for your galvo's to scan, so it scans faster. LiveQUICK may be smart and not bother scanning the black text. Can you try adding some points somewhere maybe?

Yeah I guess its something like this but its a bit poo if you cant get a constant speed from an animation.

I have found a half solution by writing the text 3 times, the leading and trailing ones are coloured red and the projector set to be a 3 colour laser even though its only green. This works in terms of the scrolling speed - which is now pretty constant but the text flickers all the way through so bad its would set an epileptic off!

    Bill Benner to the rescue

It turns out that I need to create the text scroll in Showtime and save it explicitly for the FB3, I dont have ST but Bill created the file for me and emailed it over.
    Hows that for service.

A big thumbs up for Bill. Glad to hear that you got it sorted Rob. Dose this mean that all systems are go now for the install?
