I am not going to comment on this deal because some how someone will figure out how to blame me for it, but....

When you buy this laser, it is shipped in a box ~24x24x24" with soft and hard foam around all sides. It is more fragile then a Chinese system because of the solder bonded optics as well as the fact that there are several heavy components (KTP heater) which are not bolted down directly.

Shame to see it destroyed like this, hopefully everything works out!

Looking at other Parcelforce failed claim reports that I have found via Google, it looks like I would be wasting my time.

They would want to see the item as it was when it was unpackaged at the receiving address and if there is no visible external damage to the package it was sent in, which I suppose there is , then I wouldn't stand a chance.
It looks like PF are a hard nut to crack when it comes to compensation claims
I will still be trying though.

Hopefully they do not act like UPS and forward the claim to another company to be rejected...

How much did you pay for insurance?

    You used **ParcelFarce**?
    Ouch!

Those tossers been doing this shit for years!

Look up the story of the PC Alan Cox (Linux kernel guy) had shipped with them some years back sometime, wrecking high tech packages is something they are well known for.

    Sorry for your loss.

    Regards, Dan.

I avoid Parcel Farce like the plague.

Prefer to use DHL or Fed Ex who actually offer reasonable insurance cover.

Judging by the dent of the box, it looks like another object had impacted it. I would definitely say that the shipping company is responsible.

By the way, someone on LPF appears to be in the same boat as you: http://laserpointerforums.com/f41/us...bad-45336.html

Only a claim? How does this stuff not end up as a lawsuit???? It's just as bad as someone walking into your house and smashing your TV, leaving, and if you didn't have pictures of the TV before hand they don't give a shit. This shipping bullshit needs to stop, someone needs to step up and point it out to authorities what they are up to. I'm tired of seeing so many nice things destroyed during shipping

The problem is that when you buy insurance from them, you agree to a whole bunch of their terms which state that they have the power to decide the outcome of a claim.

Here in the states the UPS general requirement is that the package needs to be packed so its contents will survive a drop from 5 feet. Other than that they will claim insufficient packing. One layer of bubble wrap does sound quite insufficient. Hopefully they will accept your photos of it working as proof for the claim and pay out. Sorry for your loss! That laser WAS cursed.
Were all of the wrapped packing bubbles popped on one side of the head?
