Lightbulb Live Pro Tip, Inverting the Y

I don't know if this is old news, but I found a great little trick in Live Pro last night at a gig. I found a way to virtually flip the Y axis on a pair of projectors.

I had a central RGB and two greens all playing the same cue which was a fan of light starting at the top of the scan field, dropping down and then back up again. So by using this little trick I can have the greens coming down as the RGB is going up.

    Here's how I did it:

The RGB and the greens are on two QM2000.Net's, one for the greens and one for the RGB. The RGB is assigned to Zone 4 (Atmospheric Effects) and the greens are assigned to Zone 10 (Secondary Atmospheric). Track 1 is set to send all cues to Zone 4, Track 2 sends all cues to Zone 10, and Track 3 sends cues to both zones. By default, all the cues go to Track 1.

Right click the grey box above the preview window in Track 1, you will see a red arrow appear, do the same for Track 2. This sends the cue to both tracks, but with independent control. Play the cue and you should see three fans panning up and down together

Stop the Image on Track 2 by clicking the checkbox (you should now see a red 'X')in the green bar under the Track preview window.

When the laser in Track 1 hits the bottom of its pan start Track 2 again. The lasers should now be inverted,

If you have a MIDI controller, you can assign the Start Stop / Image functions to a button using Command Cues.

    Hope you find it useful

    Happy New Year

Or use DMX and record some individual Z-rotation presets for each track in your lighting desk

Yes, thats why I have suspend Image mapped to a midi button.

    TIP 2:

If you map a cue with Toggle location, and you suspend a image on one of the tracks this toggle button will toggle between those 2 tracks.

Now if you put this toggle location cue on empty cue sheet and enable the beat seqencer you can have your groups of lasers toggle on and off at the tempo of the beat.

Or have multple zones controlling the greens, one inverted, and the other not.

Then set up your track to zone assignments so that track 1 has all the lasers with the same orientation, track 2 has the greens inverted, etc etc.

Or if you have more combinations then tracks available, use snapshots to record the state of the tracks and swap as you like
