AOM identification help

The AOM has Panasonic EFL-M080A03 on it; the driver has Panasonic EFLC080P23. The set came from a grocery store scanner with a nice 3mW red HeNe. I would like to see if I can get it working. I can take pictures if anyone is truly interested but it won't be pretty until it is modulating a laser. My searches have produced nothing, but I am search illiterate also.

you should post pics of the driver inside, to get an idea of the functional electronics, so we could perhaps say whether it is analog or TTL, modulation frequency, etc...

Its a isomet 1205C clone. Runs at 80 MHZ like all the generation I 1205 clones.

This thread is useless without pictures.

I can help you on the driver, but I need pics!! I do as much Rf as I do lasers. Heck, I have one here.

Steve, would this work with a DPSS blue?

I knocked off the power adjustment POT when I opened it... I got a few pictures tin the .5W RGBV album. Here is a big pic of the driver and the POT on the table beside it... Before I opened it I really only needed to know if it would work on a DPSS and how much power it needs to run. I see it is wanting 24V; I am just not sure how much. Now I need to get that POT back on.

Bump... I have learned enough to reattach the potometer... kinda. Three strands of Telcom jumper cable soldered between the pot and board to see if it even works. I still can't seem to find out how much current the driver needs. Any suggestions?

Every driver I've ever seen will start to run at 12V DC, at say a amp. Most are 24 volt, a few for Xerox use like minus seven, but this sure is not one of them.


So you can start at 12 Volts and work up from there.

I have RF wattmeters, if you fling it my way with some return shipping I can test it.

So could Flecom, probably.. A typical AO that size needs max 1 watt of RF drive, usually less.


The leads to that pot need to be very short, at 80 Mhz, short is good. Long is lossey.

Thanks Steve; I will shorten the leads; it says 24 volts, just not sure how many amps I need the PSU to be to handle it.

alrighty, gone form 6 inch leads to a half inch; anything less I consider surface mount and is beyond my current soldering skills.

from that picture it looks like the output transistor exploded? (hole in the middle?)
