Default what do you think about those goggles?

I want to know if these are any good, do you have some advice?

I want to start playing with my 980nm diodes to get direct blue, but have to get some goggles first, if I want to be able to actually see the blue light once it shines

there are two kinds of Laser goggles, one is absorbing lasers and another is reflecting the laser for protecting your eyes. The absorbing goggles is better than the reflecting, but it is more expensive. I saw lasers with the reflector goggles, and it is ok.

do you have any idea if the fact it has UV absorbance as well as IR will be prejudiciable to quality? cheap protection goggles are almost always crap, but there are some nice models when you play with lasers of less than 2W

    Eyesight in not replaceable...
Here is where I get all my googles:

Spend the $200 and don't mess with potentially hazardous/blinding crap...

I have always had good service from them. They are fast, and they take into account the "limited-budget" population. The local representative is a very nice lady and has on several occasions recommended goggles for me based on the applications I have mentioned

Good luck, and I'm glad you went with these goggles... your eyes will thank you :P

Some my customers from Laser welding wear the reflecting-goggles. So I think it is ok for high-power. But you can not see the laser for a long time, it is still not good at your eyes. you can see a longer time with absorbing-goggles.

well my need is for relatively small powers, like 2-5W IR pump power from 780nm to 1300nm, less than 1W from UV to green

now if I use some red wavelengths, it will always be in small powers, or purposedly reduced power when aligning, because I'm able to see the beam it is much safer to work on it (same for green and blue, but because I might build a high power green one day, it will be nice to be protected)

if for some reason in the future I was to use a multiwatt krypton, then I'd go for OD6 goggles at red wavelengths

    Well thanks daedal !!

I had emails with David from noir lasershields, and he is top! he sent me multiple proposals for filters in order to help find the goggles which wuld best fit my needs

I have won on ebay some goggles with OD7 from 190nm to 532nm which cover half the needed range for $46 including shipping, great great deal, and now I'm looking to cover the red to mid-IR range with hopefully better OD than I thought, as I won't have to buy UV to green goggles at a retail price

    great great great
