nice system, does it blank or would it require an aom?

    Requires an AOM IIRC.

Yes, it does require a AOM, however it would be trivial to do so as the laser has near perfect polarization and the beam is big enough that it will not burn most AOMs.

So for the $ I could get this https://www.ctlasers.com/purchases/4...32nm-p-94.html , a warranty, and smaller package with blanking??????????????? I know it would come in over spec.

    A. I doubt it would come doing 5.5W
    B. Compare the beam (Oh, and Marc, the M-Squared is wrong on your site)
    C. Compare the lifetime, I highly doubt that unit would last for 10000 hours and keep doing spec power

I am not saying the Millennia is the ideal thing for laser shows, while it is far superior to a LaserWave in most aspects, for 99% of shows, there is no difference in the performance of the laser to the audience.

that beast is probably best suited for lab / research work..........

this laser is the best for large outdoor shows for laaaaarge beam distances!

The divergence is normally much better then 0.5 mrad! it is about 0.2 mrad!
you never can compare it with a Chinese dpss....

but it is heavy and large and you need aom and you need cooling water and so on...

That's true, you can't compare it to far-eastern DPSS, but the far-eastern systems are a far more realistic option for the laser show hobbyist. 5-6W with direct modulation capability would be ideal and is easily found from the leading far-eastern suppliers brand new at a similar price to this.. then you don't need an AOM or chiller. I agree with carlos3621 that this system is best suited to a lab. The superior beam quality and CW stability aren't all that essential for laser show lasers.
