    Default First projector build

So, I got a little impatient this afternoon and figured I would do a little while I'm waiting on a few more things...

Please note, this is more for proof of concept and so I can get a feel for things. I understand I could have saved a little more space in certain areas, etc... I may end up getting a better baseplate before I add any more lasers. In the meantime, this will give me a chance to play around and get a hang of things.

Mirror and FB3 on the way. Just a little wiring and alignment left to do.

    Thoughts? Comments?

    A good start point.
Looking at photos the baseplate (maybe) could be little thin...It's 5mm and 25x40cm at least, it's correct?
What about your laser head? It seem to be 1W green from Laserwawe.
Anyway you are on the right way man!

    Thanks for the comments. The baseplate is 1/4" x 12" x 24" or 6.35mm x 305mm (30cm) x 610mm (61cm), if you prefer. I wish it was a 1W! It is a 300mw 532nm. Plans are to add a 500mw 640nm and 200mw of blue (473nm maybe). I know it's not perfect but, I'm not so concerned with perfect white balance.

I have a near identical set of lasers; and I've found that 350mW of 640nm goes VERY well with 300mW green and 250mW of 473nm

Perfect! Got any pictures of that? I'd love to see it. Hopefully, it will help me narrow down on the right power Red.

    Not just yet...
The 640nm red has been a recent addition, so not got any photos.
Do you mean of the beams+colours or the unit itself?
Next time I've got it fired up I'll get the camera out.

Also, just to confuse you a bit more: I upgraded it from 400mW of 660nm, and this 350mW 640nm unit looks almost twice as bright!
But the main reason I bought it was for the superb beam specs - no fringing on any of the beams....

Good deal! I'm pretty set on the 640nm now. I was guessing that I would need about 500mw to keep up with the green but, if a 350mw balances nicely, it will be much more forgiving to my bank account. (Ha, like that matters because I'll just spend the difference on the blue). Send some pictures this way when you get them up.

    Thanks for the info.

It's a small point; but your output window will have to be very large with the galvos that far back on your baseplate. Just a thought.

Looking forwrd to seeing it progress

That's a good point. I'm probably not going to build a case around this baseplate. I'll probably get another (or two) that are smaller before I do that. Thanks for the info. I'll make note to move it up on the next one.

Make sure you leave enough room so you can access the tuning potentiometers on your galvo amps.
