sounds like I should move from 660 to 650 or 642 I'd hate to loose the deep red thou so prob move to 650.
I've been thinking about getting one of these: http://cgi.ebay.com/1000mw-650nm-red...-/130401939102
Seems like a pretty sweet deal for 1W of 650nm, plus it has the option of analog modulation.. my projector is a tiny bit on the blue-heavy side right now.
I know that driver and it blows. Horrible modulation. Plus huge beam. IF it is only for beams than ok but for graphics forget it.
I agree with kecked. I have one of these and the beam sucks but the modulation sucks even more. Once I get some free time and when the flexmods come out I'd like to try and replace the LD driver and keep the original driver just for the tec to see if that helps. I just don't know the best way to do it. Once I am ready to start I will post a topic here to see if anyone can help.
From what I remember when you modulate lower than 75% (can't remember exactly) the beam ends up dotted - very strange. Not sure if this is the driver or the diode.

I can live with a big beam, the CNI 650nm unit it'll be replacing has quite a large beam itself.. but shitty modulation is not something I can deal with. Thanks for the heads up guys!
