SoulFeast, interesting. I didn't think about that because I had no idea of the degree of shift. Last I heard, the newer blue-green types were very rigid compared to reds, but it does suggest that the shift for high output is in a good direction. Not ideal perhaps yet, but it suggests we won't have to wait as long while inventors figure out ways to extend their methods into more of the green spectrum. And once we have yellow diode lasers it's pretty much all covered. But I'm not taking bets on when..
As to the merits compared to DPSS, I'm totally sold on that, always was. That's why I care about direct output single mode diodes so much.. All kinds of DPSS have come and gone, and I have taken them or left them as I can afford. Mostly left them.
