    Default 445nm power diode beam corrector

    I have for sale my take on correcting the beam profile of the new 445nm diodes.

    Sorry, eBay is the only good way of selling I currently have.

    The mirror starts out flat. What can't be seen in the pictures are adjustment screws on the back of the mount. These screws allow the aluminum face to bend. This bends the mirror allowing for adjustable focus. One can easily achieve .5-.6 mRad. Someone should really try one out. Its pretty amazing once you start turning the adjustment screws and watch your beam just shrink.

    This optic is really a necessity IMO if you are trying to knife edge lots of beams together. The best way I've found to combine more than two 445nm diodes and fit them on a set of 3mm mirrors is as follows. Knife the beams as close to the diodes as possible. Send them through a set of prisms to reduce the exit beam diameter. Then bounce them off my deformable optic to correct the divergence.

    Hi Logsquared,

    Sounds very interesting.
    My case is only 40cm wide (around 16 inch) would this also work if i place this optic at 30 cm distance ? And how much divergence can then be expected ?
    I didn't fail !
    I just found out 10,000 ways that didn't work.

    At 30cm the exit beam is approx. 2.4mm and the spot is 19mm at 48 feet = ~.9mRad. This is a conservative measurement. The spot has a definite "hot spot" with some light around it due to the artifacts of the sg-2 lens. I measured the whole spot at 19mm. The area with almost all the power is ~ 12.5 mm.

    The further the distance from the lens the better the quality and size of the spot. It is possible to use a folding mirror inside your projector to double the distance. I have a projector that has a 8 X 24 inch optical deck. With the use of a folding mirror i had no problem getting 1.8W 445 1.5W 532 and 2.4W 658.

    Hey I am very interested in these test results !

    This a brilliant whacky approach but the flexible mirror worries me a little.

    What do you replace it with if it distorts/breaks?

    Forgive my ignorenz but what is an SG-2 lens ?
