Any split in DMX needs to be an active split to conform with the standard. Luckily, buffered DMX splitters are nice and cheap these days.

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.

i also have gone wireless now it is even better,i use 11 of these units and all you have to do is just plug the dmx unit into any wall socket no more dmx wires or mic wires which are the same thing.

No, no they're not. Mic cable will work for short basic dmx runs, but for anything approaching a full universe of dmx, use the proper cable and save yourself a headache trying to de-big it! :/
If in doubt... Give it a clout?

What is the difference? I honestly don't know.

    Impedance. DMX512 should be 110ohm.
    Mic is often around 75ohms.

When I was running a sound system too, I used to just use DMX cable and use it for the audio as well, which you can do ok. Doesn't coil quite as nicely but saved having to carry 2 lots of cable stock.
