So... at the bottom of your pics Andy; did the skater do a nose slide or just a nose plant?

No... He ollied up to the rail; a nose plant is to plant the nose of your skate board on the rail and pause... a nose slide is to hit the rail at an angle and slide the "nose" of your baord along the rail...
