Default WTB: +/- 24v, +5v, +12v Switch Mode Power Supply (SMPS) PSU

    Hi there,

Just wondered if anyone had come across a suitable SMPS to power scanners (bi-polar (+/-) 24v), laser module/diode drivers (+5v) and safety circuits/fans etc (+12v) in a single neat unit.

Even a combo of the +/-24v and either +5v or +12v would be good. Also the unit would need to be able to supply appropriate current to run the above.

Any suggestions, or is such a single unit yet to be made?

    Cheers,
    Tony

    +24V @ 0 - 3 Amps
    -24V @ 0 - 2 Amps

You can't go wrong with a Meanwell supply. We use their medical grade supplies in our digital audio products, this series boasts 547 thousand hours MTBF!

Take a look at the other ranges, as the model you highlighted has a low MTBF and also has minimum load requirement for Channel 1 the 5V rail...

Also worth checking out is Astec/Emmerson: http://www.powerconversion.com/

Interesting, may I ask what you paid for that all-in-one beast?
    Thanks!

    Hey Adam,

I haven't bought one yet. I've only just found this online. If I had found this when I was building my larger projector, I would have saved loads of space!

Anyway, I've got another projector in progress and I'll need another PSU, so I'll find out after Easter and let you know what the suppliers here are charging

No worries. That Meanwell supply you linked above is a nice unit, I have not yet found anything else that does +/-24V, 12V and 5V.

I just got a quote back from a UK stockist of the QP-375-5E, £138 GBP each for 10 of them, buying 50 drops that by £10 each, prices plus 20% tax though..

It's a nice unit but expect to pay $250-$400AUD for that sucker. You may want to consider parting out some Vicor MegaPAC's on ebay to get your voltage combo.
They can be made quite small when you hack out the DC-DC converters and build a small 300VDC supply. Definitely smaller than that 280 X 127mm switching ps.
