    Question help with 445nm laser diodes and Die4drivers. HPF

    I am new t o this forum but I am active with LPF for over 2 years now, on and off. \

    I just got 3 die4drivers and 2 High power 445nm ones. I am driving the 445nm with a 5v 3A psu but cutting 2 traces #2 and 3 I can only get 369.9mA out of the driver.
    Do I need more current?

    Trace (jumpers) 2 and 3 don't register any connection. Am I doing something wrong?

    Help would be appreciated.

    A supply voltage of 5 volt is too low for blue diodedrivers.

    You'll have to increase the supplyvoltage, and maybe recalculate the resistor values.
    Here is an excel sheet that helps you calculate the new currents when increasing the supply.

    Are you sure about that? I can run a flexmod2 with 5V and produce 1W from a 445 LD.

    Question turned the psu into a 7.5v =3.5A by turning up POT.

    well actually the supply voltage is 7.5 from the 5v psu.. I turned up the pot on the supply and it reads 3.5A at 7.5V. This should be more than enough to run the driver.

    I still don't understand the "jumper issue" and since there is no good pics of exactly how I should set up the driver, I am at a loss.
    funny powering this unit from 2 18650cells I get 420mA a much brighter output at 4.56vdc. This is a weird problem.

    The flexmod may have a better low-drop design than the d4d. And you may have a diode with a particular high Watt/Amp characteristic.

    The voltage drop over a 445 diode at 1 amp is between 4,3 and 4,7 volts.
    When a driver is supplied with 5 volts that leaves 0,7 to 0,3 volt to regulate.
    The d4d has a 1 ohm currentsense resistor that soups up 1 volt @ 1 amp that makes it virtually impossible to drive a 445 diode at 1amp.

    I didn't supply it with 5v, I used a 5V psu but changed the output to 7.5vdc at 3.5A
    Still nothing but about 390mA .. When I use 8v (2x 18650cells) I get 450mA into the driver. ? Stange stuff.
    I need this to run 800-1000mA into the diode? What do I do?

    Is the 7.5V measured from the PSU when loaded or unloaded?

    something worth noting, if you purchased a red driver i believe they dont have enough juice to power a 445 at full power.

    you need one of his 405 drivers to power a 445 at full power.

    not 1005 on that though

    yep andy's correct
    i run my 445's on a die4drive for blue-ray @ 9v and it works great
