Regarding the baseplate... Get on the net or look in yellow pages for 'metal supermarket' in the UK, that's where I got my baseplate from. They have branches all over the country.

They will cut any thickness to whatever size you want. Mine's 12mm aluminium approx 19" x 14", cost was about £50. While you're there it's worth getting a few thin bits cut to act as spacers for aligning beam heights.

    Cheers

    Thanks for the info guys.
Jem, I could find anyting smaller than 34 /94 inches long... How or where did you specify it to be smaller than that?

jian725, yes I would like the big ones, where can I get some ?

The answer was in my reply... "They will cut any thickness to whatever size you want".

    Simplified Instructions...

    Try here: http://www.metalsupermarkets.com/MSC...gion=UK&Map=UK

Get in car and drive to nearest branch

    Go to counter

Say " can I have a piece of aluminium plate (insert size required here) please.

Wait until they cut it for you

    Pay the man some money

Get back in car with nice piece of shiney aluminium

    Drive home

Get out of car with aluminium

    Go into house/workshop/shed

Get ruler out and plug drill in

Measure, mark and drill holes (do this step twice just to be sure of correct measurements)

Mount lasers using nuts and bolts that you collected on way back from metal supermarket (you did remember to do this didn't you?).

    Stand back and admire workmanship

OK ok I may be asking for a little to much help...but this is the first time I ever done this and I'm not even close to being a tradesman. I have managed to get all the other bits together, although admitedly with asking untold questions..
Anyway, thanks for the info...the aluminium has been the hardest thing to source...

Sorry Graham, I perhaps owe you an apology for a very condescending and sarcastic reply. I was just feeling a little down today, and out popped a reply that was intended to take the P*ss and be funny, It was meant in the best possible taste though

It's not that long ago since I started along this torturous route myself, and I appreciate that getting everything together without making too many expensive mistakes can be a nightmare. So, I promise not to use my warped sense of humour on you again

Please ask away all you like, we all had to start somewhere, and believe me when I say It really is all worth it in the end !
