    Finally.

    Now all I need is a couple hundred feet of polarization preserving fiber, a cleaver, ball lenses, and patience.

    Clandestiny said something neat when he saw the violet pointer at the FLEM thing, he wanted to see 10W, and to be quite honest, so do I.

    Not to be confused with the Dark Emitting Laser Diode, which no doubt we've all had a few of in times past. Maybe we should have something like the cricketer's 'Primary Club', members of which are all those who have managed to pop a laser diode the instant they switch on, despite their best efforts to prevent it.

    In other news, given the topic, don't forget that there is a zinc oxide process, in which P type (as well as the easier N type) material has been made by a series of rapid heating/cooling cycles. I don't know the details, but it will mean VERY cheap and plentiful blue diodes if it works out, totally replacing Gallium Notride except where that more expensive substance is still justified.
