Cool Laser thruster for Mars trip proposed

Checkout this interesting article about a newly developed, patent pending method of providing thrust in space without chemical propellants. A laser amplified thruster could shorten the trip to Mars from 6 months to 1 week.
    See " http://tinyurl.com/2dutvl " Imagine traveling faster than 100 KM/sec.

    Pretty cool stuff

I Imagine they design in reverse thrusters and also use the gravity of celestial bodies to slow down as well as speed up (slingshot effect ).
This design probably beats Ion engines as well but you probably need chemical engines to first get into orbit. Once you're in the vacuum of space you fire up the photon thrusters and boogie !

Sure , why not. The only problem is you have to be wearing IR goggles or have the right spacial clouds of gas particles to frequency double the output to visible wavelengths.

Up next. Impulse power and warp speed....... for you Trekkies .
