    Default New Opnext diode...?

Photonic are listing a new and very interesting 150mW 642nm diode:

    http://www.photonic-products.com/pro...s/hl6385dg.pdf

Anyone know anything about it? Can't seem to find any more info and the Opnext site search seems to be broke. Sent an enquiry to Photonic, but not heard anything yet.

    Busting to know more...

looks interesting - wonder what it can be pushed up to?
280mA i guess is for 150 mW so 350mA rated as max could be good!
642nm thats over twice as bright as a 659nm! NICE.

Norrarf! More power and better divergence than the Mitsubishi ML520G51's. I really want to know how much they cost, probably

Tell ya what tho. once you know drop me a line as I would sure go in for some with ya if it makes the numbers up - obviously if they are £500 each I may only stretch to 1

What market are they aimed at?
That might dictate the likely cost!
Maybe they are for DVD burners so will only be a few quid.

    We can only hope
I love the min wavelength spec shown as 635nm
bit of cooling on a pair of them

It would be nice if they were cheap as chips Jim, but with their near rival (the Mitsubishi ML520G51) coming in at around £170 each for us in the UK...

    Literally just got this mail:

the price for 1-49pcs is 184.00 UK Pounds with a lead time of 6-8 weeks at the moment

So we're talking £216.20 per diode. Not as bad as I thought...

Very expensive to overdrive though. Good price to have a working 642 though.
I wouldn't like to be the first to pop one.

I think I agree with you there Jim.
I wasnt expecting it to be DVD cheap but you would be upset at that price if one died - which lets face it is gonna happen.
