    Hey guys,
I have been knee-deep in my projector rebuild this weekend (among other things). This is just one thing I cannot wait to toy with a bit once I get my hardware back in order.
My first attempt at the plain points mode resulted in quite a bit of lag in the game play itself. What I suspect was happening was that MAME was slinging frames at the QM card so fast, that it felt the need to "digest" each one before carrying on. The original EasyLase version of this was using a function call to the hardware that asked, "are you busy?" If the reply was "yes", then I would simply throw the frame out and keep going.
Bill pointed me to a similar function in the LD2000 SDK that basically did the same thing as the EasyLase getStatus() function. I tried it out, and game play improved, but still had just a touch of lag. I didn't spend too much time playing with this- instead, I shifted gears and tried the Vector Mode in the LD2000 SDK. Doing so brought game play back up to proper speed, but it was my unscientific impression that the resultant frames/display quality seemed to flicker just a bit more than the EasyLase pure points method from my previous version.
*edit- I should also note that I have not had the chance to go in and dial in vector settings in the LD software like DZ mentioned earlier in this thread. I really need to play with this angle a little more.
*edit2- In the original version, all speed, blanking, etc. settings were selectable at the game level, like Tempest and Star Castle might have completely different settings. Playing with these on a game by game basis also helped make each game look as good as possible. This would be something to explore more as well.

It was playable and it worked, so that is what I put out on the FTP site.
I do know that we can tweak it some more- I definitely will, it has just slipped down a couple pegs in the priority queue since I am currently without hardware. The good news is that the projector is coming along well. The other bad news is that my blue 100mw CNI fizzled last week, so it is back in Shanghai getting looked at. I hope that doesn't wind up costing me too much. When it happened, I almost decided to take a laser hiatus, but who am I kidding

Just curious are there XY games that are not included in the .36 build? or are you looking for improvement on the drawing so you don't need 50k galvos to have it look really good? I was pretty impressed with it on my 25K's.

Well you can use point oriented mode on DSP but it requires some programming and system setting changes. But Profiles can be loaded on the fly. I have few selfmade profiles for different situations but they don't come included in standard preset package.

I hired an Italian guy to do my wires. Now they look like spaghetti!

I was interested in knowing if the Lasermame is specifically for the LD2000? or can it be used with other laserboards?

    Thanks

    Hey Ian,
The first one of these I did was for Easylase. It actually worked really well.
Here is the original thread, although some of the video links are now dead:
    http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/...light=lazymame

I originally put *.zip files out on the old ildaswap.net server, not this one:
    ftp://ftp.photonlexicon.com/
The one that I see out there I believe may be Rob M's version.
The big differentiator with the ones I was involved with is that I always used "LazyMame" in the naming convention of the *.zip file.
If it doesn't have Lazy* in the name, then it wasn't put there by me.

There were multiple folks who were capable of downloading the package, reading the readme.txt, and were up and running in no time (for both the Easylase and LD2000 versions). There were a lesser few who fought and fought and never could get it to work, even with additional hand-holding and step-by-step instruction. I supported both versions for a little over a year, but started to detatch myself when the occasional demanding thankless stranger would annoy the heck out of my PM inbox. I figured that getting it to work would be the "prize" for the technically independent.

I am waiting on the closing of a house, so 99% of my stuff is in storage for the next 3 weeks- including all my backup copies of this and the PC I used to make the packages.
If you do some reading of the old threads, and find some example users who advertised their success, perhaps they might be able to get the old Lazy*.zip files placed onto the "New" PLFTP server, since the old ildaswap one seems to be a thing of the past.

If that doesn't happen I will be happy to track down the right copies- I just need to wait until I have access to my stuff again.

    Thanks, Mike

I have the LD2000 and was wondering if I should buy the Easylase to get it working?

What I have downloaded is the Lasemame 2002, going to try it out tonight with LD2000 if its the right one?

I gave up trying to do anything with my Zector ZVG board! thought this was a possible solutions!

I think I have too much time on my hands :-)

Thanks for any help you may give, it is appriciated. Spent over 10k on my laser system and all I'm doing is playing games!!! Greatfun though

I wouldn't go get an Easylase just for this- there is a perfectly good version out there for LD2000, the issue, as stated above, is just tracking down the proper version. We can see if anyone who reads this has a copy handy. The only other issue you will likely encounter is tracking down the roms. Do some searches for 'LazyMame' and you should be able to find the thread where I attached them as a zip file.

You'd need the roms from .36 for this build. There built into the zip though

This is the version I have used with the QM-2000 card. The only thing is you use LD2000 to initialize the card to get started other wise it has no output.
