I'm still not getting this.Regardless of the driver, if you are running a 445nm diode, you need more than 5v input
I'm running 445's off of flexmod2's in parallel on the 5v supply for my Laserwave green, and I'm running them at ~750mA/600mW no problem whatsoever, and they do go higher...
You can always go back to the basics and look at the numbers. Though my electronics skills are not the best I'll at least give it a try.
At 750 mA the forward voltage over the diode is likely around 4.2 V. On top of that you have at least two additional voltage drops in the driver: The current sense resistor and the drive transistor. Suppose the resistor is 1 ohm you'll get a voltage drop of 0.75 V over it at 750 mA (Ohm's law). That means the voltage across the transistor has to be a mere 0.05 V, which is typically too little to work with.
A driver using a 0.1 ohm current sense resistor will be better off in this situation though.
Hay is any one going to have a group buy for these drivers.
